Hey guys -
Please donate whatever small or large amount you possibly can to help save this group. They have saved so many Philly cats, but are out of funds.
I'll let the alert take care of the details.
I don't have the $, but I donated anyway. That's another facet of crazy-cat-ladyhood.
Thanks

City Kitties is currently facing a financial emergency: AT THIS POINT, CITY KITTIES IS UNABLE TO ACCEPT ANY FURTHER RESCUES UNTIL WE RAISE FUNDS FOR THEIR CARE.
In the past month, in addition to our usual rescue costs, City Kitties has taken on several cats who have ended up needing extensive vet care totaling thousands of dollars. The necessary dental surgery to remove 10 teeth to alleviate Hutch's constant tooth pain was nearly $1000. Twig, the kitten found by a local community member, has been in horrible condition with extremely painful infections in his bones, and has needed constant (expensive) vet care for weeks and is still not completely well. Bamboo, the starving young cat with the worst case of ringworm we have ever seen, currently has an ominous lump on his shoulder that is potentially cancerous and he needs very expensive treatment. It is not an understatement to say that these cats could have died horrible and painful deaths on the street without our intervention and care.
City Kitties relies solely on donations from our community. The weather is getting colder, and there are many more suffering cats who deserve loving homes and need our help. We hope that you will consider skipping your morning latte, and donate that $5 to City Kitties, or more if you can spare it. Your donation will help save the life of a real live stray cat here in your community. If you are looking for holiday gifts, donations can be made in someone's name (and you can print out our custom gift cards to give them). Very shortly we will have gorgeous 2010 calendars on sale at Studio 34 and on our website. Alternatively, please come to our Drink Beer, Save Cats fundraiser next Friday (the 13th) at Doobie's bar. ($5 suggested cover, 8-Mid, at 2201 Lombard St - List of raffle prizes at CityKitties.org)
We at City Kitties work to make our community a better place and stop the needless suffering of animals of who already suffered enough at the hands of humans- we hope that you will take this message to heart, reach into your wallet, and donate. All donations are tax-deductible, and can be made online at www.CityKitties.org/donate.html.
Our sincere thanks,
The City Kitties Team

Dude - someone could play basketball with my head right now and I think I'd still be super happy.

I'm really going to do this.
I'm leaving land in two days, four hours and ten minutes to be away from home in a bit of a tense country I've never visited before.
So how do I start this trip off? By scheduling a trip to a weekend-long mud puddle party in a part of the country far from Seoul.
HAHAHA
I'm really going to do this. I'm really not going to touch my fiance or pet my cats for five weeks and two days, and I don't know if I'll want those days to race by or stretch out, but I'm betting on both.
I must have gone insane, but upon having the opportunity I can't imagine rejecting it.
I'm young, unmarried, unmomma'd and I've got an itch to scratch.
To my right is my fiance.. playing guitar in Rock Band to "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You)" as the cats watch from various perches. I'm going to miss him beyond words.
I'll be leaving my gorgeous engagement ring home and wearing the wedding band that my Mom wore when she was pregnant with me. It's a simple gold band in my size. It's very pretty.
I'll be thinking of you guys a lot while I'm out there. The best way to reach me will be through email. I'll be updating on here and FB and my teacher blog as much as possible. I hope you all enjoy a lovely summer. I'll be looking for updates from you!

Thanks for all the happy congrats, guys!
I'm in distractionland between this engagement ring and our Penny (kitten.. nuf said).
This is not good! Must get to work on this apartment! We move on Friday!
.. Awww the kitten is SO cute right now- all curled up and purr-sleeping on the comp desk.
Speaking of kittens... this is what she was doing before that made her so sleepy. Mouse cursors are fascinating to her.

And here's a pic of my Fritz. He meeps at the prey outside.

OK gotta get to work on this place!!!!!

I'm up past my bedtime, sleepy and getting all sorts of schmoopy just thinking of my Honey.
He's having a rough time down in Florida for this NASA trip.
I will hug him when he gets home. A lot. A lot of hugging. Hugging will occur.
Bedtime for me.
Just putting the finishing touches on a surprise Bday party for school tomorrow.
Tonight - I will hug a pillow. A lot.
I love my George (in case anybody was wondering).

A lot of people want to get together before my trip to South Korea.
We're moving over the weekend of the 20th.
If the plans are still on for the trip later on, maybe we'll have a shindig at the new townhouse before I go. Just a thought at this point.
Sadly, those allergic to cats would have to come in bubbles or space suits.

Interview at 11 in Philly.
Send good job juju my way!
It's a preschool teaching position in center city that would GIVE ME THE SUMMARZ OFF. This means I could take the Jeju Island job I've possibly got lined up for next year if I get this job!
I'd also grow thighs of steel like Chun Li if I got this job. I'd be walking a bit over a mile every week day. CHUN LI THIGHS.
Also: Re-posting from Matt. This made me lol.

Good news first:
Master George was a hit for his Thesis defense. They threw loads of challenging questions at him and he had excellent answers for them all. He passed. I am so proud of him. In fact, I am doing a happy dance. Right now.
The cuff links gave him a little laugh. I'll be taking them in for re-engraving as soon as I get my car back.
Uh huh. The car stalled as I was on my way to George's defense. Twice. One at a light and another as I pulled into my parking spot at the Tech Center where the defense was. And there it stays til I take it to Tim's Auto tomorrow. Ugh.
But that ick can't outshine all the great stuff happening.
There was a notice of noise complaint in everyone's door here recently. I called up and found out it wasn't our building that received the complaint. After touching base with all neighbors, (and their respective adorable felines. we're all crazy here.)and letting them know what I had learned so they'd stop worrying, I went to the office. I'll be revisiting the office when I'm done my typing spree here. If everything works out, George and I will be moving into a townhouse in this same great complex in late May or early June.
I am so psyched. The cats are going to LOVE stairs. We'll have our own front and back door, plenty of room, and a huge front yard area. I won't have to worry about stomping around or quieting the cats during midnight rompings. The timing is a bit rough - with the end of the school year within a week or two or moving most likely, but that's not going to stop us!
Life is good. I was so happy yesterday that I skipped down the street in town on my way to a store. The skipping muscles hurt today. I haven't skipped like that since my skips to the commuter lounge in the happiness of my college youth.

I woke up nice and early and skipped down to the lovely local jewelry store to have Tiffany cuff links engraved for my Hunny to wear. I've been waiting for the right time to get these engraved - and for the right person to give them to. I've had them for years and years.
So I hand them over, hop in the car and get some balloons, party crepe paper (ooh gotta hang that soon..) a cheesy high-five deelybooper headband (a hand on each deelybopper for super high-five action) and a gift bag for the cuff links.
Then I go back for the cuff links. Boy - they were done fast! They looked gorgeous. Unfortunately, upon closer inspection I discovered that the initials were BACKWARDS.
DLG on the monogram instead of GLD (last name is center and larger in a monogram).
The poor engraver was so embarrassed. I'll present them to George and then take them back to be taken down and re-engraved. Heh Whups.
Ok! Off to decorate! The cats will enjoy this. They love it when I bring balloons and crepe paper home.

There's a relatively big looking tent up in the Free section of South Jersey's Craigslist.
I'd check it out, but we don't have the room for it.
It was just posted today so it might still be available.
Anyone interested?

I'm back.
Two nights ago I attended the Southern Inaugural Ball and saw the new President, Barack Obama, in person. I ate two meals in three days because Mom and I were so busy we had no time to stop.
I have pictures.
More details to come. Perhaps after a nap.
I've never been so exhausted and happy in my life.
..
Just wow.
Nap time.
